Shavaun Evans Director of Programs and Movement Support

Shavaun was raised in Louisville, KY where she learned from her family and neighbors the power in community. She has worked in food systems, cooperative economics, and communications strategy for more than 15 years and is passionate about co-creating the healthy and abundant spaces that communities need. At Wildseeds Fund, she manages the participatory decision-making process for the Wildseeds grant program and works with movement trainers to provide communications trainings and technical assistance to grantee partners. Shavaun's work is rooted in justice, collective decision-making, and movement building practices.

Prior to Wildseeds Fund, she was Interim Co-Director and Membership Director of the New Economy Coalition, where she worked with the coalition's 210 member organizations to build the scale and power of the solidarity economy. Shavaun also formerly co-led the grassroots advocacy efforts of the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition. At NSAC she worked with farmers and advocates to create and amplify grassroots campaigns that helped secure federal legislative wins for sustainable farmers.

Shavaun is an Equity in Philanthropy fellow of the Rockwood Leadership Institute and member of the Justice Funders' Liberatory Governance Community of Practice. She lives in Louisville, KY, where she is a co-creator of Black-led collectives and healing spaces that help meet the needs of her community.
