Semilla Collection is Here

In Story by Esperanza Pallana

We’re thrilled to celebrate 13 years of Wildseeds Fund (formerly Food & Farm Communications Fund) with a groundbreaking collaboration with SENTIENT, a vegan fashion house based in Mexico City. Together, we’re proud to introduce the Semilla Collection – a stunning line of fashion that takes meaningful climate action.

Crafted with care, every piece in the Semilla Collection embodies regenerative practices and ethical fashion. Using biodegradable plant-based leathers made from food waste, SENTIENT champions sustainable agriculture and animal welfare. Explore the Semilla Collection! These stunning biodegradable handbags are crafted from upcycled olive pomace.

But this collaboration goes beyond fashion. SENTIENT is donating 5% of proceeds from the Semilla Collection to support Wildseeds Fund’s mission: advancing frontline organizations and narratives that build power and embolden transformative change to our food and agriculture systems through climate, land and labor justice.

We could not be prouder at Wildseeds Fund to be in partnership with SENTIENT. SENTIENT Founder, Jimena Suárez Ibarrola, and her team have a deep intelligence for systemic change through leveraging culture, design and fashion.  They honor the hands that nurture the soil—the same hands that grow the food on our tables and provide the raw materials that shape the fashion in our closets.

We are honored to be in a binational collaboration that not only respects and supports the necessary and difficult work of farmworkers, farmers and frontline organizers but also recognizes that the United States and Mexico are intertwined in history and a shared future.

This bi-national partnership is a testament to what’s possible when culture, community, and sustainability come together. Together, we can create a climate-just future where every aspect of our lives protects people, the planet, and all living beings.
