Voices of Climate Justice and Democracy

In Podcasts, Story by Esperanza Pallana

The United States is in a defining moment politically and environmentally. There is a national attempt strike fear in the masses and to silence dissent and justice. It is in these times when we must be courageous and uphold democracy and civic engagement in the critical issues of our communities. This is happening in a time of growing climate disasters where low-income and communities of color face increasingly severe disasters due to climate change. The ability to continue reporting on and connecting communities around impacts, protections and solutions is vital to the resilience and recovery of our communities.

For this reason, Wildseeds Fund has proudly supported Counterstream Media's partnership with The Nation to launch a new podcast, A People's Climate. Hosted by Shilpi Chhotray, an internationally-recognized advocate, narrative strategist, and podcast host, A People's Climate is about real people standing up to oppressive systems and institutions to take grassroots action. We invite you to listen to their messages of resistance, hope and determination. The season launches September 27th and will feature new episodes every Saturday.

Our grantee partner, Counterstream Media, is a nonprofit media organization that uses journalism and storytelling to challenge harmful narratives and work towards Environmental Justice.
